Does this sound like nits?

Cos we ain't ever had them before.

Was playing with dd's hair and saw a little white oval thing, wasn't sure if it was a nit egg, or dandruff or what. Definetly not moving.

So a closer inspection and I saw some little black dots, one of which seemed to be moving and I thought they must be nits. Combed through with a nitty gritty comb and got one more white blobby thing off. Put Full Mark moouse on, could see more of these black round dots (not moving). Still thought they were nits.

Just looked at nitty gritty website and it says nits are white. So now I don't know. DH laughed and said she probably ahs fleas , but surely fleas don't live on people. Shes not been itching.

you probably killed them with the mousse!. they're browny/black and the eggs are white.

keep combing and repeat in a few days. horrid little critters

Eggs are black.
The empty cases are white and are called nits, I believe.

Nits are the eggs, which are unlikely to move. They are very small teardrop shaped which can range in colour from white to black depending on the colour of your dd's hair. If you try to get them off the strand of hair they are stuck like glue. Size of a pinhead I would say.

The lice can also range in size. They tend to be light brown and move very fast. They are easier to spot but by the time you've seen them they've probably laid loads of eggs.

Oh and the nits themselves aren't on the scalp as such, they are laid on strands of hair, so if they are definitely on her scalp they are not nits.

Here you go, check here.

No idea if their are nits or not, but wanted to clarify that... humans can also get fleas!

But read this from the site "DEC plugs (desquamated epithelial cells) may occur when oil glands in the scalp work to compensate for the drying effects of chemical treatments. They are bright, white, irregularly shaped clumps of fat cells stuck to the hair." - sound familiar?

Mmmm they could be nits then. Will keep combing and use tea tree spray.
