Quite concerned about my Nephew and his 'winky'

My Sister is not concerned at all but I can't help but feel that she should get him checked out. He is six and has an enormous winky. It is about 6-7 inches long and thick (sorry TMI). He rubs himself to get hard and then it is HUGE (he runs around showing everyone). We all feel slightly embarrased as it is as big as a man's but she doesn't she anything strange.

Should I be concerned??

To be fair, there ain't a lot anyone can do about it and he may be very popular when he's older. Perhaps she knows where he's inherited it from?

Though he really Should be told not to go showing it to everyone. Whatever size it is.

Bloody hell That's one heck of a size for a 6yrold! Thing is if your sis won't do anything about it then maybe it is nromal in his dad's side of the family there is little you can do. I would prob advise her to maybe steer her ds into a direction of not getting it out in public though

I haven't asked where he gets it from although I did nudge my sister and winked that he must be like Daddy!!! She just laughed and said he wished

It just freaks me out whenever I see it, I can't help but feel he needs to be checked over, I mean what if it doesn't stop growing???

I really doubt anything can be done about it though does he show any signs of puberty?

pooka · 21/08/2007 18:39

Do you really mean 6-7 inches. Because even 6-7 cm would sound large for a boy of that age? I know my ds is only 2, but I'm feeling inadequate on his behalf.

meandmy · 21/08/2007 18:41

try explain its his private place and he should do not do stuff to his wnky unless he is in a private place!
so glad i have a dd!

Are you basically wondering if he's got some kind of hormonal problem? Certainly not something I've ever heard of before, and not easy to google I guess, without having to wade through a lot of stuff you don't really want to see, iyswim.

Could you mention it in passing next time you see your HV or GP? I guess you'll get the "they come in all shapes and sizes" comment but you could ask about the real possibility of abnormalities.

And in the meantime, encourage him to put it away!

flumpybumpy · 23/08/2007 10:39

I do mean inches not cm's. I might just mention in passing next time I see the HV. I haven't googled it as typing in little boy's willy's is going to bring up loads of stuff I really do not want to see.

He is not going through puberty, this was my thought, you hear of girls starting periods young etc.. He has no other puberty symptoms at all and, if anything, is actually a slow developer in all other ways.

He is currently attending the special needs class at school once a week as he is very behind with reading and writing and he started speaking properly until he was five.

I suppose when you see something so out of the oridinary it really does make you wonder if everything is ok.
