Has anyone got any experience of tendonitis in the shoulder?

I've had pain in my right shoulder for about 6 weeks now and finally got round to going to the drs today. He said he thinks it's bicep tendonitis. The alternative treatments were anti-inflammatories and then a 2-4 month wait for physio or the pills and a steroid injection over the tendon. I went for the latter as I don't want to wait. It was bloody painful. The dr said the pain would be better for a while due to the anastheatic they put in but would get worse during the night. It is no better though even though I've taken painkillers. He did say there might be another underlying problem in the shoulder joint itself. I just wondered if anyone had had this before or had the injection and has got any advice.

Jura thanks for your reply. I really hope this injection does work although the dr didn't fill me with confidence to be honest. It's agony at the moment but I can't take any more painkillers until 11pm so I guess I'll have to live with it. What is the difference between tendonitis and bursitis? The dr didn't mention surgey at all today but I knew it was an option further down the line as my dad had Tennis Elbow and I suppose that is a similar kind of condition.

Do you think it would be ok to alternate those two as well as the anti-inflammatories? Blimey, I'll rattle when I walk!! So is it a-i with food, paracetomol then 2 hours later ibruprofen then 2 hours later paracetomaol etc?

I have it in my right shoulder and it is excruciating! It is also more painful at night, the pain feels like a red hot needle. I haven't thought abaout gpaing beyond pain killers yet, had too many ops over the last three years!

Morning! Well I didn't sleep too badly once I had finally dropped off. It actually feels a little less painful this morning but not a lot different overall, I suppose it's too early to say whether it's worked really. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

It's not too bad thanks Jura. The pain from the injection itself has passed although it's still very tender when touched. Unfortunately my seatbelt rubs right on it when I'm driving. I've been taking the a-i too and I think it, maybe, feels a little better. Dr said it wold take 3 or 4 days before I felt any benefit or not so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
