Coil for uterine thickness anyone?

Some info to explain...Having a general anaesthetic next week for biopsy of thickened uterine lining and a d&c, think a camera to have a look too.
I was told I will be brought back in January to decide whether I want a hysterectomy or a coil fitted. Don't relish the thought of either tbh but got to be done!
Had biopsy whilst awake few weeks back and they decided they then wanted it done under general anaesthetic too.
I understand results came back ok as she reassured me it wasn't the c word.
She did say though that as I'm 51 and periods have stopped that lining shouldn't be thick therefore it's possible the cells could turn sinister in future if left?
So this is where the coil or hysterectomy came up, I understand if I chose the coil that I need to go into hospital every six months to be checked?
Scared either way but don't like the idea of general anaesthetic for a major op as she called the hysterectomy so will the coil really help thin it out?
Is it safe? Will it prevent anything sinister? Any one with experience of this?

There has been a few on this forum who have had a coil for the same purpose as you.www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/

I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago for endometriosis, it was done keyhole & I was only in hospital for one night. More & more hysterectomies are being done this way, I went to theatre at 6.00pm, was sat up in bed watching soaps by 8.00pm, my drain & catheter were removed at 5.30am next day & by 10.00am I was home with 4 tiny cuts on my stomach, I was driving again within a week & able to have sex again after a fortnight. My hysterectomy left my cervix but removed my remaining ovary. I didn't need painkillers once I was home & even managed to walk to the local shops the day I came home. I started on HRT a week after my op.

@Nat6999 Wow great to hear makes it a lot less frightening when I read your post! Still not liking the idea but when you hear someone else's experience it kind of helps 👍
