Stupid F*ing doctor
I have to rant - pls indulge me

I have ringworm on my breast, I had it on and off for years after being infected by a kitten with when pregnant with dd 6 yrs ago.

Dermatologist confirmed and got treatment for it which sorted it and was safe while breastfeeding - dd never got it.

So it has come back on me 4 wks ago, now darling ds2 (5 mths) has an identical raised ithcy patch on scalp and has started itching on his torso - he is fully breast fed, no family history of eczema.
So stupid doc...
Oh what you've got is not ringworm, that doesn't itch, but eczema does therefore you ahve eczema, you need E45 cream and so doe your baby.

So I know for sure i have it, therefore am 99.9% sure that if ds2's looks like mine he has it too, it is driving him demented.

What do I need to get?

Ring a pharmacist?

tribpot · 20/08/2007 16:43

Pharmacist or Walk-In Centre would be my suggestion. No need to tell either you've been to the GP.

ask to see a different gp

My ds had ringworm on his tummy when he was about 4/5 months old. I had worked out what it was and the doctor confirmed it. It took ages to clear up (months) using the cream so I had to get a second dose of cream - which I am almost positive I got over the counter. I'm not at home so I can't check the brand name - but I remember asking the pharmacist for '1%' cream - and being clear it was for ringworm on ds. Go to a good pharmacist and give lots of detail and you'll be fine. Hopefully someone will be along with more definitie info.

BUT, as I said ds had this for ages and was never bothered by it - it didn't seem to itch, so maybe consider what the doctor said too?? Are you using E45 on him?

no I've not as if it is fungal moisturising it is the worst thing to do....
I am going to go back to the pharmacist, they said no as it was on ym breast and they said ask a doctor, so I did...

I'll go back and say it's just for ds2

Great that you haven't started with E45, lucky you know from your own experience - good luck, and I hope it clears up quickly for your ds.
