Has anyone ever had this before??

Yes,very painful it is too. My advice would be Google exercises for PF, buy comfortable trainers with memory foam soles, I wear Skechers. Tennis balls to roll under yr feet can help, frozen water bottles can help numb the pain, see podiatrist to get measured for insoles, they have helped me so much. Good luck.

MadameJosephine · 18/11/2019 16:50

Several times, I’m being treated for it at the moment. Ask for a referral to physiotherapy, the only thing that works for mine is high intensity untrasound treatment

egontoste · 18/11/2019 16:57

Wear shoes with a slight heel .

Loopytiles · 18/11/2019 16:58

There are threads on here with all sorts of recommendations, from yoga for feet, to footwear, to medical interventions!

I found sketchers go walk, inside and out, yoga and weight loss helpful.

CheerfulBunny · 18/11/2019 16:59

Yeah, mine was caused by years of going from heels to unsupportive flat shoes, like flip flops and ballet pumps - with no 'middle ground'. I started to get a continuous burning pain in my feet even when sitting and in bed at night. When I got up I'd have to hang onto the wall until everything loosened up - which is not quite right in your late thirties. I paid and went to a private physio who sorted me out really quickly with ultrasound, horrible painful massage and exercises. I think the cost was well worth it. The physio said your fascia should be smooth and mine was like bubblewrap from all the minute tears in it.

Much less bother now but I have special heel wedges in my trainers for running now as that causes awful pain in my heels and tendons.

Loopytiles · 18/11/2019 17:01

Yeah, reckon walking loads on concrete in too-big ballerinas didn’t help mine.

BusterGonad · 18/11/2019 17:10

I had it after a long weekend I ultra flat cheap trainers (Converse) soo wore moulded shoes (soles like birkinstocks) and purchased some New Balance trainers, at home I wear thick flip flops so my feet are always supported. It went after a week or two (well the pain did).

BusterGonad · 18/11/2019 17:12

Sorry about typos. Molded not moulded!

jewelzzx · 18/11/2019 17:19

Wow a lot of people then so it is quite common??
My partner has had it for a while now and it just won't go! He hasn't been able to work because of it, he's on naproxin and zapaine but it's not really helping he also has the sock things from boots but we're just stuck on what to do.
He also about two weeks ago had a steroid injection to help but it's made no difference

My partner is only 20!

Several times, I’m being treated for it at the moment. Ask for a referral to physiotherapy, the only thing that works for mine is high intensity untrasound treatment - would we have to ask a doctor for this referral to get that? @MadameJosephine

Fucking agony. First time I had it I thought I'd stepped on a nail or something.

Orthotic insoles help. Turns out I have flat feet (sexy AF, me).

And I wear comfy trainers.

ArtificialArctophile · 18/11/2019 17:42

Me in both feet. Agony - got Achilles tendinitis alongside it too. Have had physio and it comes from my calf muscles being super tight. Nothing has helped so far and have tried most of the things PPs have already said, so watching with interest to see if anybody turns up anything I haven't tried. Could chop my feet off sometimes.

jewelzzx · 18/11/2019 18:21

@ArtificialArctophile he limps everywhere and has to sometimes hold onto a wall to keep balance! Feel really bad for him. It looks horrible. His ankles swell huge as well!

OP posts:
jewelzzx · 18/11/2019 18:22

Quite badly

Plantar fasciitis?!!!

ArtificialArctophile · 18/11/2019 18:25

@jewelzzx exactly the same as me. Give him my sympathy.

jewelzzx · 18/11/2019 18:27

@ArtificialArctophile I can only imagine how bad it hurts, he has another steroid injection in the next two weeks on the other foot, the swelling hasn't gone as bad as that for a while but it's still happening, he's only had it for three months

OP posts:
jewelzzx · 18/11/2019 18:29

@ArtificialArctophile u have my sympathy if you'rs to are like that sometimes🤧 hope it gets better although it doesn't seem like this does!

OP posts:
MadameJosephine · 18/11/2019 19:11

Yes, the GP can refer him. Steroid injections do nothing for mine, only the exercises and ultrasound from the physio

ArtificialArctophile · 18/11/2019 19:24

@MadameJosephine I tried the ultrasound therapy and it helped for a bit - might give it another bash next time I'm at physio

daisychicken · 18/11/2019 19:35

Search PF posts on here, it's been discussed a few times and everyone finds something different works to ease PF!

What helps me is being bare foot, wearing shoes, however supportive, for too long makes my PF worse. Bare feet is a big no no from the professionals.. So it is worth imo, trying a few different things to see what might help you.

cushioncovers · 18/11/2019 19:38

Yep me. First time it happened I thought I had glass shards in my shoe. These are a life saver I couldn't function without them

Plantar fasciitis?!!!
TheGlaikitRambler · 18/11/2019 19:40

Yes, and Sketchers Go Walk shoes were brilliant and sorted it out for me.
