Is it normal to have odd cycle length once you've had a baby?

I'm not sure what's going on. My DD is now 9 months old and she's been breastfed since birth. Due to breastfeeding I've not had periods til last month, and now I've not had one since last month. Before my pregnancy I had a regular 28 day cycle, so the fact I've gone 35 days since my last period concerns me a little. I am still feeding DD once a day. Will this affect my cycle?

I have considered the fact that I could be pregnant. Really not sure how, but I suppose no contraceptive is completely reliable. I was hoping someone may have had a similar experience and could tell me that there is another possible reason for such a late period.

Yes, breastfeeding affects your cycles.

I had no cycles for months and then three normal 28/30 day long cycles and the last two have been 50 days and 57 days and counting.

I'm not pregnant and my GP said it is due to stress of things in my life and breastfeeding.

It will take a while for things to normalize after bfing.

My cycle is totally different to how it was pre-kids - I used to be the world's most irregular women (16wk cycles anyone?) and now I am a much more normal 30ish days.

So having a baby does affect your cycle!
