Whooping cough and flu jab?

Hello,

I'm due to have a whooping cough and flu jab tomorrow. I've read that it's safe for the baby but I'm so anxious about it. Any views on the vaccines while pregnant ?

Thanks
Abday

Vaccines are good and will protect both you and your baby which is why they are recommended by health professionals and people who understand science a lot more than the average person.

I’m not sure I understand why you’re anxious about it? My doctor explained to me that flu and whooping cough vaccines are recommended for pregnant women because they transfer immunity to the baby that lasts beyond birth. Both the flu and whooping cough can be nasty for adults but potentially fatal for infants. I’d be anxious about NOT getting the vaccines... no?

I'v had them 3 times, absolutely get them. They also protect baby after it's born as well as through the pregnancy.

Had both in both pregnancies and all fine! Thousands and thousands of women have had these vaccines with no ill effects. It's definitely in your and baby's best interests to have them.

Flu kills a number of pregnant women every year (the reduced immunity makes you more susceptible to complications) and whooping cough can be deadly for a newborn. Anything you can do to reduce those risks has got to be good.
