In the last week I’ve been having a really fast pulse for me and dizzy spells. In the last year I have also noticed thinning hair really bad dry skin on my palms and generally not feeling right. I’ve had a blood test done and the gp text me today to say my thyroid is working harder then it should be and to do a repeat test in 3 months? Also said could be a viral reason? Has anyone else had similar? Should I be pushing for help sooner?

Yes, and my gp put me straight onto levothyroxin as she said it was inevitable and I may as well force the stop, as opposed to waiting and continuing to feel ill. My brain chemical showed how hard it was working to make the thyroid function. I have epilepsy though, so perhaps that was partly why she didn't want my brain going any crazier to control the thyroid...

It took about six months to stop noticing I was tired and breathless, but my thyroid levels were checked after 3 months and my gp was happy with it at that point. I think it'd be worth another visit to your gp, see if they'll get you on meds now. Once it starts to go, there's no stopping it. Apparently going on meds forced my body's natural attempts into shutting down earlier but if its inevitable and you feel crap, what's the benefit in holding off? I take a teeny pill as soon as I wake up and wait an hour before breakfast.

Those symptoms sound more like overactive than underactive. If you're really feeling bad, I'd do some reading up and go back sooner.

Currently strapped to a 24 hour ecg but the dr is adamant it is not my thyroid. I’m not convinced

If GP has done a thyroid function test, ask him for a print out of the results and post them on here with the reference ranges. We'll soon tell you what's going on.
