Slipped disc?

Hello, I have a specific question for those who have had a slipped/herniated/bulging disc. Did you feel pain in your spine when the affected area was touched, for example, during a doctor's examination? (as opposed to general pain when you walk/sit/move a certain way etc)

Hi. I have three slipped discs and suffer terribly with sciatica when I'm having a flare up. I also have AS.
I can say that with the slipped discs I am able to bare pressure on my spine with no pain. Does this help? X

My pain came out in my legs (both). My actual back rarely hurts but my legs, hips, feet can. If your back is sore it could be muscular? Lets hope so as it will resolve fast

Not on touch (i.e. Dr pressing area) but when I asked to move in certain ways (or sit/stand). After a short while developed sciatica. Dr was useless tbh - just gave me pain relief.

Yes sadly they wait for a long time (weeks to months) to see if it resolves first. I had surgery 12 years ago and still suffer so that's not really a solution either. Physio is pretty good though

I find that heat helps. I often sit with a hot water bottle on my lower back and hips when the pain is bad.

Sorry for dashing, and thanks for all your replies. I've been examined by various people and got mixed answers. The consensus seems to be not a slipped disc but temporary scoliosis caused by muscle spasms. It really was bad.
I do have mild sciatic nerve pain too but that's separate and I've had it on and off since I was a child, don't know why.
Sorry you're all having pain too.
I went to an osteopath and he's helped a lot.

Is it possible for your GP to refer you for an MRI. This will give you a better idea of what your diagnosis is. How is your pain now? X

I ended up seeing an orthopaedic consultant privately as I was fed up with being dismissed by NHS, he examined me thoroughly and confirmed it was muscular and there was nothing wrong with my actual spine. Said I didn't need a scan as it wouldn't show anything and it would be a waste of money for me. I was still sceptical but he's very experienced and surely it wouldn't be in his interest to fob me off, if he could be getting more money from me.

The pain is loads better after 2 sessions with the osteopath. He said a few more sessions would sort it out, plus ice packs and then a session every 4-6 months.
Osteopath treatment is the only thing that's ever helped (I've had the same problem before). Still waiting on NHS physio, earliest appointment is mid December...despite the fact that when I rang I was unable to walk or do much for myself...apparently I wasn't an emergency.
