This is bit ughhh, so if you're squeamish please skip this thread. Envy < not envy

DS 17 months has been a bit off. Last night he was extremely unsettled which is quite unusual as he has been sleeping really well recently. This morning he was quite grumpy, presumably he was tired after not sleeping well. He also woke up during his nap, crying. He doesn't have a temperature.

I just changed his nappy & his poo smelled strongly of vomit, as well as having a weird texture. I don't usually bat an eyelid at dirty nappies, but it had such an acidic smell. Now I'm worrying, should I take him to the GP? Or am I being ridiculous? He hasn't eaten anything new, if anything his appetite has decreased in the last week.

Teething?

starfishcoffee · 05/11/2019 16:03

@GenevaMaybe

Yes, he is teething but I didn't think the two could be connected?

In my kids teething gives them loose, acid-smelling poo. Could be similar thing happening, hope it’s not a tummy bug as there are lots going around.

Teething means more saliva (dribble), they swallow lots of it and it's more acidic than usual - can cause funny poo

When mine are teething there poo becomes so acidic it basically burns their skin in moments and so teething means nappy changes with warm water, cotton wool and nappy cream whereas normally they are fine with wipes and no cream

Yes, I agree with the previous posts. Teething poos smell really acidic and burn skin.

Hm, interesting. He has had terribly sore nappy rash, so that could be it. However, he's vomited his milk this morning & has a temp of 38.5. I think we'll just sit in today.
