It is driving me INSANE
It has to come out
I am blardy terrified though as always almost bleed to death after operations (well have only had two, c-section and tonsillectomy, both of which ended in dracuaesque blood-baths)

I don't know anything useful about this subject but didn't want your post to go unanswered.

Have you spoken to your consultant about your post op bleeding fears? Could they give you any reassurance? Do you know why you had bleeding problems before or was it just bad luck. I am a total wimp and would be very scared of any op so you have my complete sympathy

I hope somebody comes along soon who can help a bit more.

sorry to hear your kidney's being so shoite CD,what sort of problems have you had?

expatinscotland · 16/08/2007 21:44

My sister has had one out for similar reasons. Stones, stones and tons of stones. No known cause.

She had her op in the US, but apparently the surgeon cut off hte blood supply to the organ with a laser before removing it.

She's been fab ever since.

My gran had a dodgy kidney removed about, er, um 40 years ago? 50 maybe? Longer than I've been alive anyway. Never had a problem from it and she's now 99

PestoMonster · 16/08/2007 21:47

I haven't had a kidney removed, but an 8 year old classmate of dd2 had hers removed earlier this year. She had it done by keyhole surgery and was home the next day. She was made to stay off school for a week, but I believe she would have come back sooner if her Mum had allowed her to.

I don't know if it would be the same sort of scenario for an adult, but just wanted to reassure you that these things aren't always as bad as you might think.

Good luck!

Surely if they aware that you are a bleeder then they'd be prepared for it?
