Hi
I'd love to get opinions from people with the Mirena. Yesterday I had an op under general anaesthetic to have a polyp removed as I've been having terrible periods, passing tennis ball-sized clots and continually battling anaemia for the past few years. The consultant also advised that I have the Mirena fitted, but I've heard so many things about depression, acne, weight gain etc that I decided against it. Especially as I've always reacted so badly to the pill.
Coming out of the op my consultant told me that I have a thickened lining of the womb, so removing the polyp won't stop my bleeding. And I should have had the coil.
I'm so fed up. It now means that the hormone approach is my only option, and I've missed the opportunity to have it under a general anaesthetic with a week off work to recover.
Has anyone tried any alternatives? I feel like I either have up live with what's becoming a crippling monthly blood loss, or take on a branded hormone-based treatment that I know I'll react to. Your experience would be much appreciated! X
