Flu jab timing

I normally have a flu jab at work in October. This year they are saying there’s been a new strain identified and the vaccine won’t be ready in December. This seems a little late and even as if we are being fobbed off. Anyone know anything about this or advice on whether I should just pay to have it done now? I am not in an official vulnerable group but have had post viral fatigue for three years and keen not to go there again

I think they’re talking rot personally. The vaccine for the 2019/2020 season is out and there won’t be a new one until next winter. They don’t add a new one half way through the season.

The new strain was identified earlier in the year and is incorporated into this season's jabs. It set manufacturing back by about a month, so stocks started arriving on August rather than July.

But some GPS still have not received their orders (mine has the over-65 but not the under-65, even though the local pharmacist has both, so goodness only knows what's going on in the supply chain)

There isn't going to be a new formulation coming out in December - it'll be a delayed date for the delivery of the same jab that some places already have.

Our workplace has rolled it out but is strictly limiting supply by priority or vulnerability to make sure it's eeked out whilst supply catches up because of the delay.

They have said December for the next available batch here.

Isn't it only £10 to have it done at the pharmacy? Just pay the money and have it done. Not worth the wait imo.

Just pay to have it done at a pharmacy. Have had mine (NHS), so the Info you've been given is incorrect. I think there is a shortage though ..........
