Is anyone on here a leg specialist or a physiotherapist?

I have always suffered from crampy legs, but it has got really bad over the past few weeks.

I have extremley flexible legs and can bend them in all sorts of ways thats not bormal so i don't know if this contributes.

To look at my legs from the thigh downwards my bones curve right inwards then out again and my feet fall inwards when i walk.

I used to only get the pain after standing or walking for hours but now i only have to be on my feet for about 20 mins and im in agony to the point where i can't stand my legs crumple underneith me.

The pain as a child was all in the calf muscles but now i get it in both knees but it radiates to the whole leg.

I am going to the g.p next monday.

Anyone in the mean time know what it could be?

Really difficult to say without having a look (BC I was an outpatient and orthopaedic physio), but sounds like you have hyperextension of your knees and some dropped foot arches.

These could be contributing/causing your leg/kee pain...or it might be something different (not v helpful I know).

Best advice is see Gp (tick) get referral to see physio....they will do a thorough assessment of your feet/knees/ posture etc and I'm sure will give you a far more accurate diagnosis than I can do (without looking at your legs .

Well i saw a physio when i was about 8ish who said that i had quite bad something but hyperextension rings a bell apparently due to to loose ligaments or something but she scared me away saying i would probably be advised to have an operation and have some sort of wedge put in my leg? do you know anything about that?

I am going to go back to the g.p to be re-refered as i can't live like it much longer.

I have to wear supports for my arches and wedges to tip my feet out, they've really ehlped. I don't think I have as bad a problem as you but they may do something like this first before they go down the suregery route. Was also given exercises to do to strengthen certain muscles.

I did excersises for a while but they didn't work well really im not sure how long they take to have an effect, i read something about braces but was never offered them as the physio said it was quite far along or something it was a long time ago i can't remember fully will have to ask my mum! But i know she scared the crap out of me and i refused to go back!

Oh dear - curses upon those damned scary phyios's .

A lot of lower limb problems, including knee pain, can be fixed with foot orthotics. You may need referring to a specialist biomechanics physio/orthotist/podiatrist and have something custom made.

It is very unlikely that an orthopaedic surgeon will start cutting wedges out of you until you have had a fairly exhaustive time with the physio....you may need to go down that route again and have better luck with a different physio.

Phew! I actually saw a physio a while ago for carpal tunnel syndrome she was lovley, she was amazed by my bendyness! I wonder if i could request her again. Anyway thanks for your advice ad input ladies.
