Dentist damaged tooth more?

Hi,

I went for a check up yesterday and the dentist informed me I needed two fillings on my right side. Had no problems at all apart from Abit of sensitivity. He used the air pressure gun on the tooth (not sure why?)

Anyway this evening my tooth is killing me. All under my eye is sore and it hurts so much to even touch it with my tongue.

I’m going to need a root canal aren’t I?!

I’m absolutely terrified of the dentist. I’m actually falling asleep but can’t shut off as I’m having a panic 😩😭😭

It may just be that your nerve is bruised. It can happen with filings and general dentistry. It can take a few days to settle. Try some ibuprofen.

I haven’t had the filing yet, I’m due to get it done in 2 weeks 😭

I think the air pressure thing is to just dry/clean the tooth to get a better look, but it may have dislodged something that was covering the sore bit. I'm in a similar boat, I had a checkup last week and have an appointment for a filling tomorrow and tooth is sore since last night (and ice cream forum treat). I'm taking paracetamol and rubbing with sensodyne and it is taking the edge off a bit.

If you are in pain call the dentist tomorrow to bring appointment forward or to get a temp filling.

The air pressure (compressed air) is essential for the dentist to get a proper look at the surface tooth; it allows them to spot decay or ascertain if there is an actual cavity. If that alone has caused any sensitivity then obviously it shows just how precarious that youth's status actually is. But do make sure you mention the new sensitivity at the appt for the filling.

Tooth not youth!!
