Do all pregnant women have a transvaginal ultrasound?

I live in the UK and I just wondered if every pregnant woman is given a transvaginal ultrasound at some point in their pregnancy.

No, I'm 32 weeks in my third pregnancy and have never had one. Even my early ones (8 weeks ish) were abdominal.

Are you ok OP?

I had one in my second pregnancy but only to check that it was in the right place due to having had an ectopic previously and it was early - 7 or 8 weeks. It's not done as standard in the U.K

Before 10 weeks I had TV scans (ivf pregnancy and then spotting issues)

I will just say as id had plenty before too when investigating potential fertility issues. They are painless and not at all anything to worry or be nervous about

I think it's more common in countries where healthcare is private and insurance pays for it. Given sonograms are usually successful from about 8 weeks, that's early enough.

I've had about 30, maybe more (never been pregnant but used in annual gynaecology check up outside UK) and for IVF in UK and abroad.

If you are worried about having one speak to the provider beforehand.
