Please help - any opticians around?

DD is 16 and recently started to complain that one of her eyes is slightly blurred when closing the other eye and focusing - she says it’s slow to come into focus. I took her for an eye test yesterday and the optician came out afterwards and said all was well but DD would have to come back in 2 months as the photo of the back of the eye that’s giving her trouble showed that the optic disk was blurred - the other eye it was sharp edged. She said that in the absence of previous eye tests she wouldn’t know if that was normal for DD or not so they’ll check again in 2 months.

I’ve googled and now am worried sick that it’s pressure from a brain issue. Surely if there is any risk that it could be that then DD needs to be seen straight away??

Can anyone help reassure me? The optician didn’t really say too much and didn’t seem all that concerned but I cannot stop worrying.

By the way she’s been prescribed glasses which the optician says will help with the slight vision problem in that left eye. I’m now worried that it’s more than just a lazy eye?

If they had any doubt at all, she would have been sent straight to hospital, they really don't mess about.
I get the blurry thing, but its as my weaker eye gets suppressed by my brain, and it just needs a few seconds to kick in properly

DS has this and they immediately referred him to the local hospital and now he's got to be signed off by a paediatric neurologist. They did say that if it is a brain pressure issue it is unlikely that it is just one eye that it shows up on. They only referred us because DS had a bad case of delayed concussion recently.

Yes is the optician had any doubts she would have been referred to hospital straight away. But why don't you have a word with the optician she should be able to reassure you.
