Waiting for a neurosurgeon referral for a meningioma found after a MRI ordered by the Opthalmologist.

I went to school with a girl in the 80s who had several tumours successfully removed. She's still going strong.
It must be so nerveracking. Who is supporting you in real life?
Glad to hear work are being understanding as they should be.
Sending lots of best wishes.

I had a menigioma. It was situated on the brain stem and was causing dizziness and problems with balance so I had no choice but to opt for surgery. I was advised that radiation would probably not help but would cause scar tissue and potentially make future surgery more difficult. Like pp said it was a slow growing tumour and had probably been there for years before discovery but psychologically once I knew it was there every headache made me wonder if it was having a growth spurt so I was relieved when surgery was recommended. Wishing you all the best and a quick recovery

My 44 year old cousin recently discovered he had a tumour which they think could even have been present since birth. I can’t remember the type but needless to say it’s not malignant. Hope it goes well for you OP.

@annonymousse thanks for the best wishes. How are you doing now?

Gosh there's a fair few of us about on MN! I never realised.
We need to start a headbangers club. Grin

I'm ok thanks 😊. It did take a while and had to have quite a bit of rehab after the surgery. However I'm working again and driving and living a normal life. I have regular mri's as they were not able to get the whole tumour out and there's a chance it will grow back. The hardest thing is that I lost hearing in one ear due to the surgery and it's surprising how badly that affects me.

@IdblowJonSnow thanks for the best wishes. I have a lot of support, my mil lives nearby, my 27yo son is at home. My 21yo is nearby at uni and has understood that learning to drive now is important and will be a big help to me. My boyfriend of 2.5 years took me to the ns appointment. He hasn't yet moved in (it's complicated) but now this has happened we are working towards that asap. My manager knows as do my small team at work and I've told both my brothers and several friends. Hard telling people, I'm worried about shocking them...

@annonymousse good to hear you are ok now, despite the hearing loss.Sad. I know there are possible side effects, but in my situation where my eyesight is at risk I do have to take the offered operation.

Glad to hear you've got plenty of support. Keep busy if you can and get some nice treats booked in?

Another Headbanger here! Grin
I had a Grade 1 Ganglioglioma removed 5 years ago. It was scary at the time, I posted a lot on here, mostly in Chat so it’s disappeared.

I found the wait for surgery the worst bit as it’s so intimidating, the actual surgery was quite straightforward, DH couldn’t believe how quickly I was back on my feet.

5 years on watch and wait for me after my Meningioma was found as an incidental. Lots of factual information on Meningioma.co.ik and their Facebook page if you need support

secondchapter · 26/09/2019 09:21

Hi @ParoxetineQueen sorry you are in this situation, hope your m isn't causing problems. I've found loads of factual information and have dipped serveral toes into the Facebook closed group. I have pre surgery appointment this afternoon. I think current worries are getting fit for surgery and telling people... Not that I'm not scared of the surgery, but neurosurgeon seems very competent and will take this chance.

@SauvignonBlanche Hi! Thought I had typed a post to you yesterday but it has disappeared into the ether. Glad to hear you were back in your get quickly.

@EdInjury Father Ted and Ricky Horror Shock. I feel that I ought to do a load of paperwork too ( will, powers of attorney) and I did want to get married
My situation is somewhat complicated by partner of 2.5 years living 15 miles away, and I need him to move to mine asap.
