MMR for adults?

I've had a text today from my GP saying that they've noticed on my records that I've never had an mmr vaccination and inviting me in for one. I'm in my forties so wouldn't have had it as a child, I know I've definitely had a rubella vaccination and I caught measles as a child, not sure about mumps.

I'm usually very pro vaccination, but this has got me wondering as to whether I actually need an mmr vaccine?

Have any other adults been recently asked to come in for mmr? Is this an NHS drive to get vaccination levels up?

What would you do?

I am immunocompromised (in my 50s) and, as a kid had mumps. I also had a rubella jab as a teenager. Never had measles. I was told a measles jab would be risky for someone in my situation but that I could rely on herd immunity. There's no herd immunity in my area.HmmAngry

I had to have one when last pregnant as although I had one as a child, my immunity had completely gone - not sure how.
I would have one whilst they are offering you it. It probably is an attempt to get as many people immune as possible.

We are inviting all those up to age 25 at the moment but will probably get to other ages soon. Staff were told to have theirs about a year ago so I had two at the age of 50. Measles and mumps are both about at the moment. Go and get the vacc as soon as you can.

I would have it OP, I assume they are trying to drive up vaccination coverage. You are protecting both yourself and others by getting it.

I had mumps when I was 10, but had measles and rubella vaccinations.

Recent tests showed I was NOT immune to mumps!

I had to have my MMR jabs this year.

I’m very pro vaccination for children but no vaccine is 100.0000% safe and the normal side effects of the MMR can be a PITA so if I were you, given that you’re confident of your rubella and measles status, I’d try and get your mumps immunity checked to see if it’s necessary.
