Going on the pill for PMS?

Hi all, I'm 20 and never been on the pill before. I feel like every month without fail now in the days leading up to my period I get such bad PMS. I know most women do, and it's normal, but I don't know to what extent i should be seeking help for it if that makes sense?

I think since I was about 18 it's been pretty bad. Reason I say this is that I was a pretty moody teenager often in a horrendous mood, hormones I guess.. so maybe that's why when I was around 18 I really started noticing a difference in my mood in the days leading up to PMS? So not sure if I was already experiencing it as a younger teenager but just didn't realise.

I've also come across PMDD but I definitely don't think I have that.

So has the pill actually helped any of you or has it made matters worse?
I have already made a doctors appointment to discuss it but just want a bit of advice, thanks!

Yes. Helped me but I had to try a whole load of different pills to get the right one so be prepared for that. It also helped finding the gp in the practice who specialised in women’s health/fertility as felt they were more up to date in knowledge and less dismissive of my symptoms
