Pityriasis Rosea

About 2 weeks ago I noticed an oval shaped pink patch of skin on my leg. It measures about 2 inches by 1 inch. It's not itchy or scaly and it hasn't changed since I first noticed it. It's just like normal skin but pink.

After consulting Dr Google it doesn't look like ringworm as its all one colour and not got a defined border and also it doesn't look like eczema pictures I've seen. I thought maybe it's pityriasis rosea, and this might be the herald patch but I haven't had any other rash come up. Can it take longer than a couple of weeks for the rest of the rash to show?

Of maybe it's something else. Any ideas? I just want to know what it is but I don't think it's worth seeing a doctor as there's nothing actually wrong and I can never get an appointment anyway.

Both my daughter and I have had pythiriasis rosacea. Mine was 35 years ago so I don't really remember the circumstances. My daughter's was about 3 years ago (teenager) and I seem to remember that the rash appeared quite a bit later than the herald spot. She never had any itching from it and it eventually went away. There really is no treatment for it but it is a sign that you might be overdoing it in your life.

I had it when pregnant about 3 years ago. My herald patch was on the back of my thigh. I seem to recall it taking a bit longer than a few weeks to develop into the Dalmatian look i ended up sporting for a couple of months. Maybe give it another week and see what happens?

Ive had it, itchy as hell! Not sure if I had it bad but it was unpleasant.
I think the doctor just gave me moisturiser which helped a little bit but cant remember if i also had antihistamines too.
It does take a little while for the smaller patches to appear if it is a herald patch.

Grin That made me laugh. I have tried to post a picture but it's not letting me.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll just wait and see if I get more of a rash. I will put some moisturiser on and see if it helps.

I had PR too - my herald patch was in the same place - and the same size. The rash came up after about 2-3 weeks, then lasted for 6 weeks-ish - as it progressed the rash got itchy. So itchy I would have scratched my skin off if it hadn't been for the doc - prescribed a moisture cream and a strong antihistamine (Fexofenadine 180mg).

The doc appreciated me making an appointment as she had some medical students visiting and the patch and rash were presenting very typically and are not often seen so clearly.

Then eventually it went... and that was it...
