Help! Scalded foot and don't know what to do

I've dropped a mug of boiling water on my foot and I'm beside myself with pain. The top layer of skin has wrinkled over an area of about 3x5 inches, looks obviously burnt and is slightly swollen. I've had it in cold water for over an hour, now it's dry and under cling film. The NHS website says go to A&E but I really don't want to go on a Friday night. I'm getting a bit agitated with the pain (have taken some paracetamol). Any suggestions?

I'm so glad you went wageslave.
Ds had a pretty horrific scald last year on his leg. The burns unit and follow up team were amazing.
Good luck and hope it heals well. Flowers

I used that burn spray when this happened to me.

Hope you got good care today. Some experience of this unfortunately - most painful thing I’ve ever done. Dressing changes are painful so I’d recommend timing your taking painkillers to be before you go to those (once you aren’t on tramadol). Get some crutches if you haven’t already. The first few weeks are tough but you will be amazed how well skin heals. Take photos every couple of days if changing dressings and you will see the difference ( my consultant suggested this - also helps to track what’s happening). They say the new skin is very sensitive to sun for a couple of years. My experience is that even more than 3 years later you shouldn’t stop with sunblock and massage or scarring can increase. Good luck with the healing.
