Rosacea- Soolantra

Hi,
I was prescribed Soolantra just over 2 weeks ago by a dermatologist for my type 2 Rosacea. I’ve been using it every night since and it’s got soooooo much worse, several pin head sized bumps on my cheeks have appeared in addition to the spots that were already there. Some things I’ve read about Soolantra say that getting worse before better is completely normal but I guess I’m hoping to get real life stories backing this up. Has this happened to anyone else? Did your skin clear eventually? How long did this take? Has anyone experienced a negative result with Soolantra?

Thanks!

Yes totally normal to get worse at first, stick with it, i only use it occasionally now. It has been the best thing I have been prescribed for my Rosacea.

Thanks for the reply NK how long would you say it took for you to see an improvement? I’m dreading doing the school run everyday because I’m embarrassed about how bad my skin looks.

I was lucky, probably a couple of weeks, do stick with it, majority of people get good results.
The only thing that helped me before was antibiotics, but I always end up with thrush and upset stomach with those so Soolantra has been my saviour.

Hi @PrudenceDudence did your rosacea improve in the end? I'm in same place as you, been using less than a week though but id say things are definitely far worse right now 🙁

Hi NotPayingAttention my experience withSoolantra was very different to all the glowing reviews I’d read about it. The mass of little bumps that I developed after 2 weeks of use (when I wrote the original post) did thankfully die down. I used Soolantra for 3 months, maybe slightly more and can honestly say my skin showed no improvement from how it had been before I was prescribed the cream. What I have subsequently found out is that diet has a huge effect on my skin. I know that when I’m eating well my skin improves. When I have periods of eating sugary, fatty or processed foods my skin has a breakout.
My advice would be to stick with it if you can. I think it’s always worth giving things a good shot. It seems a lot of people have success with Soolantra so fingers crossed you’ll be one of them.
Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your reply @PrudenceDudence, I only just saw it.
I'm sorry it didn't really work for you that's disappointing. I've had periods of healthy and not so healthy eating over the past year and I cant say its made a big difference for the flareups for me. I know everyone is different. I'm going to give the Soolantra a good 3 months and stick it out, I'm still hopeful, even though its really burning and much worse now than ever before! Its either working in some way or I'm having a terrible reaction to it 🤷‍♀️ Time will tell.

I also suffer from Rosacea with the red horrible looking spots on my cheeks, and like you really hated doing the school run. The only thing that works for me is antibiotics from gp.

Soolantra had a miraculous effect for me. After four years of suffering with horrible break outs which would come about in minutes sometimes and massive itching everywhere including inside my nostrils ( urgh) I went to see a dermatologist - who gave me this. I used it daily for 12 weeks and voila. All gone. My skin is so much less dry too.
