DD11months threw up her milk this morning, and then refused her weetabix which she normally inhales. so, she managed to eat a half banana instead. then she was off to nursery. they say she ate her lunch and her snacks, but i'm never sure whether she really does eat much at nursery as she comes home ravenous and thirsty most nights.
tried feeding her dinner tonight and she's just picked at her food and then eaten another half a banana and a yoghurt.
just gave her the evening milk and she's thrown up all over me.
should i be worrying? i'm worrying about my worrying now.

She might just have a tummy bug. Stay off the milk for a while and just give her water til she's back to normal. Good luck

Tummy bug? Is she teething?

moodlesoup · 08/08/2007 19:06

not teething, well, i don'tt thinkso.
but she has had a cold in the past few days, and chicken pox the week before that.
she tried coughing this morning straight after her milk and brought it all up.

DD was like this all last week - she wasn't sleeping either Was a tummy bug I think but took a week to go

notnowbernard · 08/08/2007 19:10

It sounds like the tail-end of the bug/virus/whatever she's had over the last couple of weeks. I think babies are quite sensible re eating... if they're off their food it's normally because they feel a bit crappy. If you're still worried in a couple of days take her to the Doc. Hope she's better soon

moodlesoup · 08/08/2007 19:11

ah, that's good to know.

she's sleeping really well - first time in her life she's slept until 6am instead of 5am! with every cloud there is a silver lining!

come to think of it, she was a bit sick last night (but not much, she's always been a little bit of a sicky bubba), after her meal, but i put it down to eating too much.

so, tummy bugs can only affect in morning and evening? - its just that she hasn't vomited at nursery....

My Ds (8 mths) had a bug last week, was sick once and poos were V loose. He went completely off his food for a few days, and only look milk. He's fine now, and eating like a horse to make up for it.

I wouldn't worry too much about one day. If it continues for a week or more with no other symptoms or explanation, maybe seek help then.

We rang the on call doctor and she said that as long as he was producing wet nappies every 6 hrs or more, and didn't seem lethargic or floppy, then he wasn't dehydrated, and the bug would pass. It's dehydration you have to watch for, but if she's still taking milk and / or water, she should be fine.

I know it's really worrying though - I was so worried about DS as it was his first bug, but I now know I didn't need to!!

you're right. i shouldn't worry, she's been sick so often that i should be used to it! thanks for all the advice everyone.
