Symptom less UTI?

I ended up in A&E last week with horrendous back pain

Turns out it was both a symptom less UTI and a back spasm

I was told to be careful to always seek treatment when I have a UTI but there were vague mutterings when I reminded them I have no UTI symptoms (apart fron the back pain)

Is this something I need to keep an eye on (how?) or just ignore as I can't?

I’ve heard before that an untreated UTI can spread to the kidneys and will cause severe back pain particularly in the lower back flank area. Did they explore the fact that your UTI could have gone on to infect your kidneys hence the back pain?

No they gave me codeine, tested my blood which was fine, tested my urine which wasn't and gave me 7 days of amoxicillin, ( I can't take trimethoprim or nitrofuritin)

I might try and see the gp next week

I had symptomless uti about 6 years ago. Spotted because I had to go in for an op. They gave me trimethoprim. I had the op. All fine. 6 weeks later I came down with another uti. More trimethoprim. After three days the symptoms were worse and I ended up being admitted with sepsis.

ALWAYS take notice of a uti. I've now been admitted twice because the minute a uti tasked hold I go rapidly downhill.

I'd recommend getting some dipsticks from amazon. They're useful when you know something isn't quite right (eg odd twinges of back pain etc) because they'll show up your nitrites/leukocytes

I actually bought some a couple of years ago when I went on a 6 month camper van holiday but I haven't had a problem with urgency or frequency since I started HRT Grin I like HRT!!

So what once or twice a week? I guess?

Yeah once/twice a week should be ok

Keeping track of a symptomless infection is tricky!

Thanks
