Started 2 days ago during a trip with a friend. We napped during the day no problem. That night I was still awake at 6am unable to inhale properly (only shallow breaths). I've had 3 hours sleep both nights of my trip and now its 2am and I cant breathe and have been in floods of tears because I'm so exhausted.

I feel I'm holding my breath all the time and like I just want to die basically. Lying in the dark after several hours I feel like screaming and very claustrophobic. I Cant explain it. The only thing that has changed in last few days is I started new.pill gedarel. Symptoms dont seem like normal side.effects tho

I almost had a nervous breakdown a few months ago but have honestly been feeling better and more relaxed. Help!!

That is not bad considering you are so unwell. I dropped to 260 with my last chest infection 350 is good for me.

I also keep the cat and dogs out of the bedroom my chest tells me when I have left the bedroom door open and they have snuck in.

They always say "if things don't get better or they get worse, come back"
So at night, your breathing isn't any better so take their advice - ring the doctors!

And when you get there ask for your peak flow to be done as part of the check.

Go back 1001 times if you have to, you need to be able to breathe properly all the time, it's slightly important in keeping alive. Wink

Did you go to Essex beach? Was something on news about people being ill and breathless after swimming there.

Re peak flow it's about knowing what your own healthy reading is and comparing. For example at best I can blow 420 I think but during my most recent episode (which wasn't that severe) was 290. I had a virus that just seemed to go straight for my lungs and caused my asthma to reappear for the first time in over ten years! There are some funny viruses around.

If my own peak flow dipped below 250 I'd want medical advice.

Not had such a good day. Woke up this morning with pain on left side of chest and upper back. Tried to left the kettle and couldnt, too painful!

Anyway I just feel completely exhausted. meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow - going to have lunch then straight back home but feel like I might go mad if I dont get out soon! Pain has eased as day has gone on.

get yourself seen by a dr.
Ideally right now, it does sound like it could be a circulatory (heart) issue.

You need to rule out a pulmonary embolism, OP. You must go to A&E.

How are you op? I hope you're okay. Did you go to the hospital?

Hi folks, just to say I am feeling a lot better and finished the antibiotics. I had an asthma review with nurse today who gave me a steroid inhaler to try and control symptoms. If things dont improve I have to go back.

She thinks my dairy allergy could be contributing to breathing issues - I didn't even know this was possible! I have noticed I produce a lot of phlegm when I have dairy products.

The steroid inhaler will take a bit of time to work it is accumulative so be patient. Use the spacer correctly, do not forget to take it because you are feeling better. Good luck OP.
