Flap management

Had my second c section 4 weeks ago and the scar is weeping. Initially it was just clear ish fluid and only a little but now it’s got blood in it and there’s more, plus the scar stings where it’s weeping.

I’ve booked in to GP but predictably can’t get an appointment til next week.

In the meantime what can I do with the weeping scar? The main problem is my massive overhang which is preventing air getting to it. Even if I hold the flap up with my hand it’s still not really opening up the scar area to the air because there’s so much flab and it’s heavy and a bit numb/weird feeling still.

Is there a dressing I can put over the scar to keep it fresh and dry?

It just feels with the overhang that the area is festering and will get worse that way.

Obvs my fault for being a fat fecker. Am in the process of addressing this in the hope that the flabby flap will get a bit smaller ... eventually

Bless you. I’ve had 4 c-sections and I’m stuck with a shelf, more than a flap!
Would it be worth ringing your midwife for advice if you are still in contact? Or asking for a phone consultation with the GP sooner if you suspect infection?
I remember in those early days placing a nighttime sanitary towel against the wound to keep it clean and sweat-free.
After it was all healed, I’ve also used a hairdryer on a cool setting and talc to keep it clean and sanitary. It’s completely gross, sorry to be so graphic! My youngest is 5 now and I hate my stomach so much I can’t look at myself naked.

Could you visit a walk in centre or a pharmacy?
