Anyone had thread veins removed?

I've had unsightly purple thread veins on my thighs since I was a teenager, and as I seem to be getting more vain (excuse the pun!) as I get older, I'm thinking of having them removed. I know the beauty place where I get my eyebrows and bikini line done offer the service. Just wondered if there are any possible problems I should know about and how painful it would be.

Fionne - I have the same type of veins in different parts of my legs mainly thighs too (known as spider veins). I personally would not have it done by anyone but a doctor who does this on a daily regular basis. The only thing I know is having the injections done. I did look it up and it said you will need around 2-3 treatments but not guaranteed depending on how bad the veins are. It said there is really no major pain to treatment except some mild burning sensation and small needle sticks. The needle is thin so the pain is usually minimal. The risks are said to be very rare. Examples are blood clots, in veins, inflammation or allergic reaction to the solution injected. Maybe some cramping for a day or two afterwards. You can look it up on yahoo for any other risks. I myself would have it done since theres no more risk it seems then any other treatment you read about. I would defanatly go to the doctor first so they can examine your legs. Mainly to see the severity of your veins before treatment. I think I might like to check on this treatment because I hate having these veins too. It seems like the older I get the more they show up and darker. Good luck.

I know I would have to check with a doctor first, but didn't know a doctor would actually do them. Not on the NHS presumably?!
