Suggestions on how to get a little thorn out of my DD's foot!

She is only 2 years old. She was walking bare foot (as usual!) in our friends garden on Saturday. She said OUCH OUCH OUCH and that's all until tonight when I was drying her feet, I noticed the little thorn.. she hasn't complained about it, but I guess it might get infected! Any easy ideas on how to take it out??? My main worry is she hates us touching her feet, she is very tigglish like me! Thank for your help...

either tweezers or you could maybe use a wax strip? it will only hurt for a second then

well dd used to go spare when I tried to get a skelf out of her foot so we used to leave it and it eventually came out on it's own.

The best thing to do today would be to let her have a really long soak in the bath. The thorn will swell and might poke back out through the skin again. When she is asleep, have a little go with the tweezers.

In my experience, digging at a splinter is extremely difficult and painful for a ticklish child. Nature nomally pushes foreign bodies back out anyway.

There's a white coloured sulphate paste that you smear over the splinter and it draws it out. Completely painless. Can't remember what it's proper name is though! The pharmacy would know what I'm on about!

dd let me take out her first splinter (aged 3) with a needle and tweezers, with just the promise of a small reward for bravery - but the next two she refused to let me near, so we put bandaids on and they came out on their own. If the splinter is at right angles, it will be trickier as walking on it could drive it in further - but if not, I'm sure it will come out in its own time. Good luck!

The white paste sounds good and an easy job as leaving it to come out by itself... and I ll make sure I have the tweezers ready and some help to hold her if needed!!!!
