Has anyone had any luck treating keratosis pilaris?

I've had awful trouble with keratosis pilaris on my legs for a couple of years. I've seen GPs and dermatologists but they've just prescribed greasy moisturisers which make my legs feel sticky but don't help. I've been told that it's not a condition which is "curable" as such but it's so bad and so unsightly I'm desperate to do something about it. It looks terrible and my legs feel itchy and horrible all the time. I'd be really grateful for any suggestions if anyone's had any luck getting it under control!

ameliorate lotion was no good for me.... i think it really depends on the cause of your kp. but sadly nothing that doesn't sit on the skin has any effect at all.

@lorettalemon the Ameliorate Cream

Interesting there is a lot of divergence. The Korean mitts and Eucerin seemed to aggravate mine, so I ended up with red skin around them. I found ameliorate to do nothing at all and it’s quite expensive.

Agree with the poster that very simple scrubs work - you can use sugar, salt or coffee grounds with a base oil and I think it would be fine. Agree with a lighter moisturiser as well.

And for all those who have tried all sorts of remedies for years and it’s suddenly improved - apparently the condition does calm down as you age. It’s about overproduction of the skin cells and that slows as we age. Mines definitely not as bad as it was

Mines was relatively minor, but I find using Mario Badescu AHA Body soap twice a week keeps it in check. It’s about £9 a bottle and easily lasts 3-4 months as I only use it on my upper body.

Yes, body brushing daily and moisturising. Works a treat.

@Laquila - no, definitely not. Don't use the Korean or Salux cloths on your face... I don't even use them on my neck or chest! Chemical exfoliation is much better for the delicate facial skin, apparently - physical exfoliation can cause irritation & damage as the skin is thinner.
