Vitamins D deficiency experiences/symptoms

Hey, 4 weeks ago I was told I have a vitamin d deficiency after a few months of feeling absolutely awful. I could barely carry myself I was that tired, tingling and feel like my limbs were asleep/aching. I’ve also been very anxious and depressed. I have anxiety and depression anyway but it’s made it unmanageable and I’m currently off work.

Since taking the loading doses 4 weeks ago I have felt a bit better but no where near my usual self. I still feel terrible in the mornings and it’s starting to really get me down.

All my other bloods, iron, b12 thyroid etc were all fine.

Can anyone tell me some positive stories or what their symptoms were. I’m honestly so low with this. Sad

I would definitely ask for a coeliac screen btw. Being glutened can make dd feel like she's under a fog so some symptoms could be exaggerated by something else going on as well.

I know you can be low in vit d without being coeliac but if you do have coeliac disease it makes you more likely to have various deficiencies as you struggle to absorb nutrients/minerals.

RoOX .

Yes . Vitamin D has been studied in relation to menstrual cycles, severity of PMS etc. Yes, according to these studies, it does have very beneficial effects, when low levels are increased.

For instance: Menstrual cycle disorders 5X more likely if patient has less than 30 ng/ml of Vitamin D – In the journal Nutrients. Ref. :Nutrients. 2018 Nov 11;10(11). pii: E1729. doi: 10.3390/nu10111729.

Bear in mind the level 30 ng/ml is the same as 75 nmol/l as measured in UK measurements. multiply ng/ml by 2.5 to get the equivalent UK nmol/l reading.

Thank you so much!!!! That’s so helpful!

I still can’t believe how bad I feel, I didn’t know vit d was this important! I feel more exhausted than I did with a new born

My levels were low (17) and it took about 8 weeks before I noticed really feeling better.

I felt achy, tired constantly, brain fog, anxious like you.

Now take an A-Z type vitamin and mineral and my Vitamin D spray too.

I can tell if I don't take it for a few weeks.

I just can’t get over how bad it makes you feel. I’m glad to hear other people’s experiences and know that I’m not alone. It’s vicious, exhaustion from the lack of vit d and the exhaustion makes the anxiety worse Sad

Low vitamin D can cause irregular periods, periods to stop. Vitamin is essential to every system in the body

@Ro0x how long did it take for you to feel better? I am 7 weeks in on high supplements. My level was 25mnol, but although level is now 120mnol I still feel very unwell, aching, fatigue, headaches etc?

Micha1972 · 27/02/2021 17:41

@Boom25. I'm 8 weeks in on high doses after having blood results of 25mnol
I have had all symptoms for 10 months prior to this. My serum level is now 125mnol but I still feel awful. Fatigue, depressed, can't sleep, apathy, lots of aches and pains etc.... when did you start to feel improvements and what symptoms improved first? Thank you. I'm just so fed up with it and starting to feel like I will never feel better.
