Pink Migraleve tablets available again after long abscence?

For migraine sufferers who have been tracking the unavailability of Pink Migraleve tablets since last year, I thought I would let people here know after seeing a thread in Chat which I also updated.

This Monday afternoon, I picked up a pack of 12 pink only Migraleve at our local chemist while picking up my partners meds.

It was by chance, wasn't looking for them. I've been trying, like others here, to keep an eye on the net about the resupply issue. The chemist assistant said that they came in last week. So, is thus the end of the issue? Hope others who aware by their use can find some easily.

My partner hugged the pack when I brought it in! :)

Apologies if there's another thread mentioning this.

I noticed then the other day when I was in for my prescription. Typically I didn't take money with me as I was only going to the chemist so couldn't buy any. I must make a point of going back. Thanks for the reminder. They are such a comfort to me, just knowing they are there!

Wonder why we haven't been able to buy them?
Thanks for letting us know.

They work good for me

@Tensun15

It seemed to come to light last October. Shortly thereafter, you could find any packs containing the pink tablets.

Elsewhere it has been speculated that there was with a supply issue with an unspecified ingredient, and when a new supply was accessed, or a replacement found, it had to be medically re-accredited.

Sorry, that should have said couldn't find them after October! :)

Thank you!

@AuntieAvocado

You're welcome. I know how bad my partner is when she gets a migraine. And how a lot of people find only the Ping Migraleve will do, as shown in that thread here in the Chat thread of Fun and Games started last October!

Yeah i actually cried at my pharmacist when he said he couldn’t get them!

fedup21 · 15/08/2019 23:31

How effective are these? Are they different to the yellow ones?

I have been prescribed Sumotriptan for mine-are these a (cheaper?) alternative?

KellyHall · 15/08/2019 23:35

Thank you so much! It's great news :)

Pink Migraleve is over-priced co-codamol with an antihistamine added for its antiemetic properties. If it ever goes out of circulation again, just buy cocodamol and ask the pharmacist to recommend an OTC antiemetic. Job done.

My personal cocktail is 100mg sumatriptan plus two Solpadeine Max with a strong coffee.

ElphabaTheGreen · 15/08/2019 23:41

Yellow Migraleves are literally cocodamol with several £££s added. Just buy generic brand cocodamol.

ElphabaTheGreen · 15/08/2019 23:48

fedup Sumatriptan is a different family of pain killer to Migraleve. The former is a triptan, the latter contains paracetamol and codeine which is an opioid. It’s not a case of cheaper - they use different mechanisms to block pain. Sumatriptan is specifically for migraine whereas codeine is more general.

Neurologists don’t tend to like codeine for migraine as they cause rebound headaches, so wouldn’t recommend Migraleve. I stoically did without any pain relief whatsoever for nine months for my migraines and decided my neurologist could take his theory about codeine and headaches and stick it.

fedup21 · 15/08/2019 23:58

Thank you @elphaba

What’s the difference between yellow and pink migraleve if they both just overpriced cocodamol?

ElphabaTheGreen · 16/08/2019 00:15

Both yellow and pink Migraleve have a paracetamol/codeine combo of 500/8 which is exactly what cocodamol is. Pink Migraleve has an antihistamine called buclizine added to it, which has anti-emetic properties and drowsiness as ‘side effects’ which are quite helpful for migraines.
