Tailbone injury & passing blood

If anyone knows anything about the coccyx - DH fell and badly hurt his tailbone two weeks ago. He is in constant pain with it, hurts to sit, sleep etc.

He’s just told me that he's also passing blood when he has a poo.

Is it some kind of internal injury and what might the implications be if he won’t go to the doctor?

Bump? I know he should see the GP, just wondered if anyone else had experience of this or what could be happening

He MUST see his GP.

usernamepinched · 05/08/2019 14:26

And the internet is better than a GP in this situation why?

MakeTeaNotWar · 05/08/2019 16:50

@usernamepinched sorry?

Is he seriously considering not seeing his GP?
He needs to give his head a wobble. This absolutely must be seen by a doctor. It won't resolve on its own.

A GP appointment asap and if there isn't one available tomorrow, I'd be looking at going to minor injuries clinic.

Well @MakeTeaNotWar there's hanging off going to the Dr unecessarily and then there's endangering your health and wellbeing. I believe this is a clear case of the latter. It's not a case of man flu, it's a man bleeding from his rectum. He could have severe internal injuries. If he's not man enough to face this then you need to take him in hand and get him to the gp or hospital. Don't waste time messing about on the internet as no one here can tell him what the matter is. He needs to see a medical professional.

Your dh is being silly. He’s clearly scared - it’s his decision to make and you can’t make him. But i would tell him if I were him I’d go.

Thanks all - I have definitely been telling him he needs to seek medical advice and this thread has been useful to show him that I'm not exaggerating.

He will be making an appointment today.

I was curious if anyone else had come across such a thing, that's all.

My mum fell off a horse and landed on her coccyx. I remember it took months to resolve.

So that aspect isn't an issue. It's the bleeding that needs to be checked out.

So he went to GP today who felt his tailbone and advised DH to keep walking around.

Said the bleeding was “prob” a popped haemorrhoid.

I dunno, I would have thought it would prompt a better investigation? But DH feels vindicated 🙄
