Want to try and be healthy

As the title suggests, I'm NOT healthy, I drink too much, I eat too much crap and I don't exercise enough. I'm late 40s and
Peri menopausal so looking for suggestions for books I can buy on clean living, natural remedies etc.

I'm not wanting to become superhuman haha I like the idea of books as they are tangible and I feel I'd succeed more with a 'guide'!

It's not even about weight loss (tho I am overweight) it's about feeling better in myself, not going hungry and having more get up and go.

Thanks in advance x

Deciding to do it is half the battle, sounds like you're ready. Do you feel determined and confident that you can succeed?
I think you could start tomorrow without a book. NHS website has all the info you need - there are a million 'healthy living' books out there. Some accurate and many hocus which could divert and distract you til Christmas!
I would suggest taking 30-60 mins today to write a realistic mon- fri plan incorporating details of breakfast, lunch and dinner (avoiding loads of processed food and trying to get 5-10 fruit and veg per day) and a couple of snacks, a 20 min walk a day (or if you can't get out of the house for whatever reason) 20 extra flights of stairs or a 7 min workout (lots of options on internet). Can you go alcohol free for the next 5 days?
Even if the plan isn't perfect, if you can tick off each day you will have managed 5 days of change by this time next week. Good luck Smile

LakeFlyPie thank you. I will do as you suggest, yes I feel finally ready to start valuing myself and looking after myself. After years and years haha! The reason I fancied a book is because, well, I love books! I like the feel of a book, more than a page on the internet xx

I agree with @LakeFlyPie. Step-by-step and only one step at a time. Once you have tried her suggestions, you can then try modifying your food..... perhaps by swapping a shop/bought for a homemade version or swapping from sugary dessert to fruit and yogurt ...... or whatever your 'thing' is.

Maybe sometime after that, join a Pilates or yoga class.

The Age Well Project is a brilliant new book on just that subject. Get it from Amazon.

I really recommend it.
