Want to try and be healthy

As the title suggests, I'm NOT healthy, I drink too much, I eat too much crap and I don't exercise enough. I'm late 40s and
Peri menopausal so looking for suggestions for books I can buy on clean living, natural remedies etc.

I'm not wanting to become superhuman haha I like the idea of books as they are tangible and I feel I'd succeed more with a 'guide'!

It's not even about weight loss (tho I am overweight) it's about feeling better in myself, not going hungry and having more get up and go.

Deciding to do it is half the battle, sounds like you're ready. Do you feel determined and confident that you can succeed?
I think you could start tomorrow without a book. NHS website has all the info you need - there are a million 'healthy living' books out there. Some accurate and many hocus which could divert and distract you til Christmas!
I would suggest taking 30-60 mins today to write a realistic mon- fri plan incorporating details of breakfast, lunch and dinner (avoiding loads of processed food and trying to get 5-10 fruit and veg per day) and a couple of snacks, a 20 min walk a day (or if you can't get out of the house for whatever reason) 20 extra flights of stairs or a 7 min workout (lots of options on internet). Can you go alcohol free for the next 5 days?
Even if the plan isn't perfect, if you can tick off each day you will have managed 5 days of change by this time next week. Good luck Smile

LakeFlyPie thank you. I will do as you suggest, yes I feel finally ready to start valuing myself and looking after myself. After years and years haha! The reason I fancied a book is because, well, I love books! I like the feel of a book, more than a page on the internet xx

I agree with @LakeFlyPie. Step-by-step and only one step at a time. Once you have tried her suggestions, you can then try modifying your food..... perhaps by swapping a shop/bought for a homemade version or swapping from sugary dessert to fruit and yogurt ...... or whatever your 'thing' is.

Maybe sometime after that, join a Pilates or yoga class.

I really recommend it.
