Shadow on lung, endoscopy next week

My dad is 80 and has a shadow on the lung and back pain, he has had a CAT scan and next they are doing an endoscopy. Is this.likely to be cancer or is there something else it might be? I am worried but prepared for the worst, does anyone have anything they can tell me please?

He has started radiotherapy and is in good spirits! So proud of him.
