Dreadful sore throat

I’ve had a sore throat since Thursday. Came on quite quickly but without any other symptoms so no cold, flu etc.

It’s gotten so bad today, painkillers aren’t even touching it 😭 I’m taking paracetamol and ibuprofen but it’s so painful I can barely swallow. I’m also getting pain in my throat when I turn my head which I assume is from swollen glands.

Are there any home remedies you lovely ladies could recommend? I’ve called out of hours GP but if it’s viral I’ll just have to wait for it to run it’s course but the though if spending more time in this much pain is horrible 😭😭😭

I’ve tried strepsils, iced water, gargling with warm salt water.......nothing is helping though.

Any words of wisdom would be gratefully appreciated!! X

I was in such agony that I got a dr appt and have antibiotics for pharyngitis, still mega painful but ginger tea helps slightly.
Have you seen a dr?

No, I haven’t seen a doctor as yet as I thought I was improving but I’m up again in dreadful pain so I’m going to try and get an appointment tomorrow 😭

How are you this morning? My antibiotics haven't totally kicked in yet but it's slightly less painful, I can open my mouth a bit more.
Chewing on raw ginger is only thing that numbed it, it's a natural anti inflammatory, gross but if it numbs the pain a bit I don't care!

Does your throat smell bad? You may have quinsy. It's not going to get better on its own.
