About half an hour ago Dp felt Dd2's(2 years) wrist click as he pulled her away from something. He said he only pulled her gently and obviously feels really bad.
She is in quite a bit of pain and cries when you go near her wrist, she is holding it by her side and won't use that arm. It's not swollen or out of shape in any way just really painfull.
She is asleep at the moment if she wakes up still in pain should i take her to my GP or A&E? What could it be?

I know my Db once dislocated his ds's arm once by pulling him back from a road. A&E said it was quite common.

my grandad dislocated my elbow when i was small playing with me by throwing me round...

if she's still precious about it when she wakes take her to a&e for an x-ray... gp would probably refer you their anyway!!

Both of my ds's did this, ds2 just a few weeks ago. In all cases (3 times with ds1) is was the actually elbow that was pulled, but almost always looks like the wrist, in ds2 we thought it was his hand. Unless you have been shown how to pop it back in, it is an normally and A&E job, but I would perhaps call the GP first, as the wait in A&E a few weeks ago was ridiculous. I have now been taught how to pop it back in myself, but I wouldn't want to tell you to try that just in case it is something differnt (and yes, it makes them scream when done, but lasts) minute or 2 at most.

Hi,
3 of my 5 lo's have had what this could be.
Usually caused by pulling or tugging each other. I also "pulled" DS's so tell Dp not to worry!
A&E said it's called pulled elbow, and with a bit of twisting and pulling (and tears) they clicked it back in place.
Let us know how it goes.

If she is still in pain when she wakes up I would go to A&E. When DS was two DH was dressing him, he tried to get away, DH caught his arm and it turned out his shoulder was dislocated. Luckily in trying to get him to lie flat for the X-ray it clicked back in!

sounds like a pulled elbow

take her to A+E if still sore when she wakes. It may go back in her sleep, if you're lucky.

my DD had this and the LO's I look after have this too .
One is very sensitive and it was pop out from pulling off a tight fitting coat etc.
The GP taught their mum (and me when it was my LO) how to pop it back in!

My daughters elbow used to pop and it could pop in by itself if she reached for a toy!

Take child to GP or A&E for expert hands!

Just taking her to A&E she woke up still crying in pain.
