DS has had a funny tum for a few days now - childminder told me he was funny on Tuesday - he pooed after every meal - but was fine Tuesday night and Wednesday all day. Went away for a couple of days with friend, and he was fine, if a little "loose", but on coming back home he has been awful.

It has culminated this evening in him having a roast chicken Sunday dinner, and the whole thing being in his nappy about 5 minutes later. And I do mean whole.

What is bugging me the most, is the dog often has a dicky tummy due to his background and his current medications, but he did exactly the same thing about 2 weeks ago... He'd been squitty for a while and I gave him his tablets one morning wrapped in steak and... well. You can guess the rest.

What would you do? I am slightly concerned (and as I apparently have a nurse-like dispostition over illness that is quite a worry for me!). Should I worry? (The fact that I feel slightly worried is worrying me!)

Or are we talking more BRAT diet?

I should say he is very VERY keen to eat, and is ok-ish but I know something is not quite right with him. He does have a cold and his chest is ruttling quite badly at the moment. He is 2.7

Any advice appreciated!

Okay, you want to get your GP to prescribe some rehydrating fluids (they are sachets of fruit flavoured stuff you add to water to stop dehydration) and try and keep his diet very basic for a few days.

If he's well otherwise it's most likely a passing bug - you'll probably get it too so watch your hand hygiene. Doubt he got it from the dog. Human/doggy bugs don't tend to transmit easily (thank goodness!)

His cold is probably a side issue. But if it goes on past five days you should get him checked out in case he's got parasites or something .

Thanks Whomoved [woof]

Can I get the re-hydrating stuff over the counter too, do you think?

Winestein - uurrrggghh dogs.....so loyal, yet so dumb!

winestein · 29/07/2007 22:49

Dumb is most certainly a perceptive choice of word.

Did you like the big brown furry thing in the last photo though?

I wouoldn't worry at all if he's hungry and seems ok in every other way. Just make sure he dfrinks plenty of water.

winestein · 29/07/2007 22:59

Really WWW? He does drink shed-loads of water as it is his only drink, bar a splash of milk at bedtime.
(Have you my nurse-like disposition also? )
