Numbness travelling around body

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what happened to me today?

This morning I was at work, typing at my computer, when my vision went a bit wonky. I could still see but one area of my vision was a bit blank/empty. I felt disconnected and a bit woozy. I found it harder to type and made a few weird mistakes.

After having that for a few minutes, my left hand slowly went numb, then stayed numb for a couple of minutes. Then really weirdly the numbness moved to my nose, then my upper lip, then my tongue - this was all in the space of a minute or two.

Since then I've had a very painful temple headache on one side that is particularly bad when I bend over or make fast movements. No sensitivity to light, no auras, no more numbness since the one event this morning.

I slept badly last night and hadn't eaten breakfast this morning, so could it just be a combination of low blood sugar/tiredness?? The numbness was so odd, I've never experienced anything like it.

Any advice appreciated!

I should have added, I'm female, 30, healthy weight, healthy diet, I did yoga yesterday. I'm on sertraline (been on it a year) and the pill (which I take back to back so no bleeding).

There's a form of migraine that can do that, but if symptoms persist head to a dr ASAP. Not worth relying on the internet just in case

Buddyelf · 08/07/2019 20:36

OP I think you should get yourself seen ASAP. Could be a migraine but numbness like needs to be checked.

catboop · 08/07/2019 20:37

Oh that's interesting @stucknoue, does it have a specific name?

Could be migraine, or something more severe like MS or minor stroke. Get an appointment ASAP. Not an emergency one if you're 100% fine now but the soonest regular appointment you can x

I would get an appointment asap - I have had this on and off for a year or so and had a bad attack and had to go to A&E. They think its mini-stroke in my case with high risk of full stroke but I'm older (mid 40s) with no history of headaches. It could well be migraine in your case but best to get properly tested. If you get a bad attack (in mine I couldn't move or speak for 5 mins or so) go to A&E. If your are unsure I would call 111.

This sounds exactly like a hemiplegic migraine, I get them and suffer the same symptoms - also with loss of speech (my mind is trying to say something, but I can't get the words out) and vomiting. I can also hallucinate and see things coming towards me that when I move my head, are not there.

Sounds just like the migraines that I have. But I hope you've been checked out as it could be something more serious like a stroke.

I'm sorry to scare you OP but these were my exact symptoms when i had a brain hemorrhage. Please get it checked out.
