Recurring thrush

Hi everyone,

I have been struggling with thrush since Feb 2018 shortly after losing my virginity, after that, I had thrush from Feb - June 2018. I then went on a 6-month course of fluconazole and the thrush stayed away till June 2019. However, last month it returned really badly and took ages to clear up, I am really scared that my old problem has returned. I do everything advised - probiotics, cotton underwear, no soaps, etc. I am now trying to do the candida diet but due to work commitments won't be able to do it for much longer. I am only 21 and feel like this is going to control my life, its already causing strain on my relationship and social life. I know I'm not a mum but I thought you ladies may be able to help. I am DESPERATE!

I had thrush basically continuously from 17 to 21. Then I stopped using tampax and started using a mooncup and never had it again since. It’s been 18 years.
So maybe experiment with your sanitary products. The scents they use now are supposed to be quite irritating.

Thrush is basically a yeast infection.. it can flare up after a corse of antibiotics. If you haven’t had any antibiotics recently then l suggest that your partner gets checked out, he may be passing it to you. I must stress though, thrush is a yeast infection and not a sti.

I had what I thought thrush for years, it turned out to be lichen sclerosis. It's a skin condition, like eczema. Quite rare, but is often mistaken with thrush, as they can run at the same time. Get yourself to GP.

And don't use anything perfumes down there, neither pads nor wash. Neutral emollient, and everything non perfumed.
