'DS has severe reflux, looking for a bib that will cope'

Hi,

I am a newbie on this site and signed up today as it was highly recommended by a good friend.

I have twins a boy & a girl who are now 9 months old. I have gone up & down on all products trying out new things for both of them.

I am currently on the hunt for Bibs. Both my babies are messy feeders (aren?t they all) & I have used so many bibs in market but nothing that really works well. They either come in dull colours or they look faded once washed, and of course dry out and crack after washes.

My biggest dilemma is Christopher who appears to have severe reflux. There must be something out there that can help alleviate feeding times which seem to be a nightmare these days.

Does anyone out there have the same problems and if so has anyone found any bibs or something else which helps with this. I was told about the pelican bib, but I am not happy with the hard plastic.

Help!

tomme tipee do a travel roll up one which I liked the idea of but the neck gap was too big IMo
although you could put a towelling bib underneath

welcome!

bibtastic!

My SIL used pelican bibs & found them very uncomfortable & her baby found it boring & instead of eating she concentrated more on trying to get the bib off her. So I am not too crazy about these pelican bibs. If you girls find some thing please keep me posted. Meanwhile I will keep my hunt for bib on ?..

I got some at johnlewis that were nice bright colors/patterns, terry cloth on front and vinyl backed so they didn't leak through. They also do one that has sleeves which is quite good for really messy foods.

Boots do some disposable travel bibs which might be worth a try, they're soft paper backed with vinyl and attach to the baby's shoulders with sticky tapes so aren't uncomfortable round the neck. There's a turn up at the bottom which forms a pocket and which catches quite a lot of mess. I can't remember how many there are in a box but they aren't hugely expensive.

I found the severe spitting up and therefore the need for a bib was cured in a week when we tried probiotics. It could be a coincidence, but it is worth a try, as even cutting down the spit ups could mean you could cope with a normal bib.

Toddlerbob - explain probiotics? We have serious ds puking problem - happens all day long and although docs keep saying its reflux, he is such a happy chap and certainly by no means small and thin, so am not too keen to put him on all the meds that they want to put him on! Ds is just over six months old - any info for me?

Thegoodmans - I seem to have the same problem as you - have used the disposable ones - good but also useless as they do evenutally seep through, but more importantly he seems to love paper at the moment - eating it, so he spent most of the time sucking it - and it didn't work at all!

I got 4 packets of 5 bibs from Mothercare which are white with pretty awful pastel colours on the sides, but they are plastic backed and they keep him dry completely, he doesn't try to eat them too much, and he wears them all day every day. There is velcro at the back which you have to be quite careful about when you put him in his car seat etc because it can scratch them and be uncomfortable. Consequently my washing machine is on all day every day, but I have 20 bibs (which are a bit like socks - the washing machine seems to steel them big time so have to keep buying more!) and keep them on a 90 deg wash!!!

I seem to have the same problems. I have tried using disposable bibs, you are right WidgetWB my DS eats them better than food. My washing machine loves them so much it keeps the original patterns & gives me altogether a different one.

I too hate pastel shades what I am looking for is good vibrant colours.... Can't find them though
