He doesn't need glasses, but the optician seemed to think his eye4s would get better before getting any worse

ds2 gets seen by the one at the hospital, he has done since he was one and he is 6 now

i dont know if it would make much difference, but it's up to the age of 7 that eyesight can be corrected if it is possible, well thats what the hospital said anyway

if you are not happy i would be tempted to go to the gp and ask for a referral

ds2 had his refraction test on tuesday, we are waiting for the glasses to be ready

he is longsighted btw

His 'prescription' was really low, so I'm not worried, I just thought I better get him checked.

when do they want to see him again?

ambercat · 25/07/2007 20:18

I was long sighted as a child, wore glasses from the age of 3 to 16 when my eyes finally corrected themselves, have been fine since ( well i think so , don't think i've had my eyes checked since!!)

Ambercat, I am an optometrist and have only just seen this. Most children of this age are longsighted and most grow out of it. If the prescription is more than +4.00 glasses will sometimes be recommended as around 30% of children at this level will develop a squint or "lazy eye". If less than this, there is some evidence that the process of becoming "normal" or "emmetropisation" improves if glasses are not worn. HTH.
