How serious is a collapsed ilieum?

Endoscopy report says "terminal ilieum is collapsed".

Endoscopy was done eight months ago, have just seen the report. Nobody mentioned it at the time. Just said that endoscopy confirmed coeliac disease. Still having bloody diahorrhea a lot and google suggests this could be due to the collapsed ilieum. So why did gastro consultant not mention this at last appt when continuing symptoms were discussed.

Anyone had this and did it resolve or need treatment?

Bumping for you OP.

It's a completely normal finding at endoscopy, probably why Consultant didn't mention it. Our guys collapse down when empty (like an empty sausage skin).

Ps- are you strictly gluten free??? Could be the cause of ongoing bloody diarrhoea.

Mrsboathook · 23/06/2019 17:18

Guts not guys (apologies, autocorrect!)

Oh that's good to know, thanks. Yes strictly gf and careful about cross contamination. No sickness which was the main symptom previous to diagnosis.

It's a rotten thing to have, much sympathy.

Thank you.

I'd done some googling which had flagged up a possibility of it being linked to Crohn's disease which I'm worried about. Hospital are bringing the consultant appt forward so I can discuss it with him.
