Low iron and feeling awful

I have very low iron, and was diagnosed with anemia when I was 15. It has got so bad this week that I’m falling asleep all the time and can barely function
I’ve been to the GP many times over the years and I’ve tried all the iron tablets the nhs provide. I’m either allergic to them (eyes swelling up and itchy mouth?!) or they make me sick.
I am now getting more anemia symptoms and while talking to my dentist yesterday about it (she could tell from looking in my mouth I was anemic!) she said I must persist and go back again.
But what do I do? They’ve said there’s nothing more that can be done.
I feel so desperate now I could cry!
From memory I’ve tried ferrous sulphate, gluconate, sytron liquid iron,

I’m taking activeiron at the moment but it’s only 17mg - I was being prescribed about 310mg I think!

Can you get an IV drip? Something to discuss with doc?

you can get a iron infussion but you have to meet the criteria I think but perhaps you will if you are allergic. I've been recommended to have the mirena to stop heavy bleeding aswell.

What about spatone? I had it when pregnant and it increased my levels well. I couldn't tolerate the tablets. I'm now anaemic again due to periods so I'm trying spatone for a couple of months (pregnancy dose) and taking tranexamic acid to try to reduce bleeding.

I was anaemic recently and was advised to forget about Spatone (which is fine for supplementing reasonable iron levels) and go for something serious like Ferrograd C and eat some steak. I dont usually eat meat but continued to feel awful so had steak and burgers over a few nights and i felt much, much better. I had been focusing on spinach, broccoli, lentils and so on and the doctor reckoned they don't hold a candle to a bit of red meat. It was true in my case.

Mishtry, I think that’s my next question to the doctor. I’ve read that allergy symptoms can happen with that too though but I’m willing to try anything now.
I have used Spatone but it’s so low it’ll never work. Still, it’s better than nothing!
