Went back to gp this morning as ds has been stuggling to breath He put him straight on nebuliser and hes on abs aswell as steriods said its turned into a nasty chest infection.

The thing is ds is quite lathargic and just lay on settee wheezing away

Should I go back to gp or see how he goes.

He's upped his ventolin to 5 puffs every two hours.

If worried in future, dont ring NHS direct, dial 999 and get an ambulance they carry oxygen, and treatment starts as soon as they arrive. A child with breathing problems always gets priority. Dont mess with asthma. I know, I've had it all my life. If he is ODing on ventolin, and it has no effect, then seek medical help asap, a child can get worse very quickly. f course, they recover quickly, too. dont feel guilty about ringng for help. Consolation is most young children with asthma grow out of it.

Thanks for caring
I took ds in and he is still there just nipped home to get some more things and spend an hour with dd.

He's improved no end since we got there they said its turned into pneumonia(sp)

He's on iv abs oxygen and regular nebulisers.
They have lowered his oxygen and can now have breaks of about half an hour without it.

Its so sad I wish I'd insisted they keep him in in the first place

When we got there on friday his sats were 87 but now they are low 90's so much better.

Yippee we are home

Ds is very wiped out but loads better he's got abs to take and steriods for another week and to double up all his inhalors for a while.

They have arranged an appointment with his consultant on monday to see how he is.

While we were there a couple of doctors mentioned testing for cystic fibrosis cos ds has been a chesty wheezy baby since birth and was on his first lot of abs at two weeks old.

For now i'm just glad we are at home.
