How do you know when you have lost too much weight?!

Odd question I know!

I went on the pill at 17 (so as my body was becoming "woman" iyswim), I am now 26 and didn't go back on it after having DS in Feb 06 (have a copper coil).

The weight has just fallen off me - to begin with I put it down to breastfeeding, two small children, new business etc... then it occurred to me that I only put the weight on from the time I went on the pill (it was very gradual, but places like my thighs grew after the pill, and never shifted with any diet).

I am now down to a size 10 (was a big 14), and am still losing (not enough to shrink to a size 8, but to be a definate 10 rather than 10-12).

I can't tell if I should be worried about still losing (very little appetite, but what I am eating I'm not watching for calories etc!!!), or if my body is finding some natural balance.

Is any of this making any sense? Slightly worried that I am putting it down to the pill, and I am losing for some other reason (not eating enough etc without realising it).

How do I know when to stop!?!

it could be a case of you body finding its natural balance and i think as long you are eating a well balance diet then your body will find its balance

However, if you are loosing 'too' much then i would go to your doctor as you may have developed and over active thyroid or something, might be best to get it checked out anyway, at least that way your doctor will already be aware of the issue if there is a problem

witchandchips · 24/07/2007 10:54

yes
go to doctor to rule out thyroid problem (think it is unlikely)
just wait and see what happens over the next few months. It takes ages for your body to adjust to large changes in lifestyle. Read somewhere that if you eat an extra mars bar a day it will take up to a year before you stop putting the weight on and reach your new lardy state

You are incredib;y stressed from time to time at the moment. you have 2 small children and all the worries that go with them not to mention DDs potential barriers.

your body may be finding its natural balanced after coming off the pill and having babies who wanted to breastfeed , however, if you are worried then try and add a few cals here and there. healthily if you can (or want!). If you have very little appetite then you need to eat more smaller meals rather then 3 larger meals iyswim

Start eating little & often sweetie & see if that helps.

Though I think your body may be going back to the way it was before te pill

You're gorgeous anyway

sparklesandwine · 25/07/2007 13:53

thats a good start flamedelacour, as the other posters have said 'little and often' is probably better for you at the moment. Let us know how it goes won't you x

MerlinsBeard · 25/07/2007 15:48

glad they can rule those things out
