Really dont understand why this keeps happening to ds the last attack was only about 6 weeks ago

We have no warning he just wakes up not being able to breath and last night he was blue and it took a while for a&e to stabulise him. He seems much better now and they let us home about ten ish.

Is there anything I can do to help prevent this.

Have you thought about getting a humidifier for his room?

Desiderata · 23/07/2007 13:49

Have they confirmed it as croup, ali?

alibobins · 23/07/2007 16:24

Yeah that all the ever say

I've got a feeling its linked to his allergies cos yesterday his face kept coming out in random hives.

When he woke in the night he was sick but i don't know if its the stress of not being able to catch his breath.

What is it that alerts you to his loss of breath? Does this happen when you're in bed, or in the early evening ... or when?

alibobins · 23/07/2007 21:27

That horrible noise he makes when he tries to breath its so loud it always wakes me.

Sometimes when i check on him his breathing sounds a bit thick so i tend to keep an ear out.

once it was 9.30pm another time it was 11.30 and the rest of the time its been between 12.00 and 3.00 in the morning.

How very frightening, Ali

I'm not a medic, so I won't even make any alternative suggestions. It might well be croup (I had it once as a child and it was truly horrible) ... but if you're not convinced, I would seek a second opinion.

And a third

How is he tonight?

TheBlonde · 24/07/2007 17:01

What does your GP have to say about it?
Are they giving you any drugs for him when you go to A&E?

alibobins · 24/07/2007 19:40

At a&e he had nebuliser and steriods which help to calm him down.

He's been quite poorly today breathless and wheezy and his little voice keeps going
its off to gp for him in morning.

All on my week off work.
