Sickly baby

Hi!

I'm a first time mam and my baby is quite sickly...she is 7 weeks old on Saturday and she's been sickly after bottles since about 3/4 days old. It's nowhere near the full bottle and she doesn't cry or anything with it but I was just wondering if anyone else's little one is or was the same?! And if anything helped?!
We were given gaviscon by the doctors and that made her worse, she's not a crier and she cried for a solid 5 hours and couldn't poop, so we stopped. We're now currently trying anti colic bottles as I don't really want to change the milk after the gaviscon incident - im scared the same thing will happen again.

Hi op,

My little boy is now 9 month and from the day he was born until we weaned him he was sick all the time. Not little bits but large amounts and went through 3/4 changes of clothes a day. We were told to put him on comfort milk which didn't really do much then we swapped to hungry baby milk which worked better and although still sick it was no where near as much.

I can totally sympathise with you, we tried all sorts and nothing worked so we just lived with it.

He never cried with it and was never in obviously discomfort so we just let him be sick until we started weaning and now he's hardly ever sick!

I'd suggest trying different things hopefully you will find something that helps!

Aw thank you!

It happened with my partners cousins little boy as well, and he was the same and he stopped when she started weaning. Suppose I'll just have to do a lot of washing ha

Lots of babies are sicky, probably the majority spit up from time to time. Most babies are 'happy spitters', i.e. they vom regularly or occasionally and it doesn't pain them. If baby is gaining weight and the spitting up doesn't hurt theres really no problem and they don't need any treatment or medication. You just do lots of laundry and they grow out of it.

Oh and anti-colic bottles won't do any harm but they're really intended to prevent tummy pain rather than spitting up. You honestly don't need to do or change anything. This is just what babies are like. It's annoying when they spit milk down your back but you'll learn to keep a muslin over your shoulder and it tapers off as their systems mature.

Yup. Mine is 14 weeks and still very sicky. I'm not taking him into work to show him off until he's weaning!

Mine was very much improved by infant Gaviscon, but he can't have it too much or he gets bunged up and screams from constipation. So we balance a fine line, but most days have at least two outfit changes. It's slightly improving now he's a bit older but we get a few good days then a really bad one.

Aw thank you everyone! Nice to know I'm not on my own. I don't mind a few outfit changes a day and a pile of washing, and I'm used to this sick down my back/front/leg/arm/everywhere ha just glad she doesn't cry with it and it doesn't bother her. Suppose I'll just let her grow out of it.

My DD is almost 14 weeks and she's been like that since she was born she will bring up her fed and it can sometimes be soon after a bottle or hour after she doesn't cry doesn't seem in any discomfort I just change outfits when needed to or just make sure I've got plenty of bibs to hand
My DS was the same as well I just think some babies are and some aren't but so long as baby is gaining weight alert and happy I wouldn't worry Smile

The HV has just been and my LO is now 12lb9 at 7 weeks. She was 7lb9 and a half born. So obviously being sickly isn't harming her putting weight on 😊 and the HV is perfectly happy with her so I'm so chuffed!
