Thinking about going to the doctors, as a week before my period, I am a right COW, I can go as calm as you like one day, to being super super sensitive the next, and flyng off the handle for the slightest things and ranting a raving, then a few days later its all calm again.

Anyone tried anything thats works?

I would love to find some way of if not beating it, then finding a way to make it much less severe. I am apparently a nightmare to live with when feeling like this.

Think the reason not gone to the doctors before is that I always had it and something I sort of got on with.

Have you had children?
I just ask because my periods have taken on titanic proportions when they came back after DS and I'm on something that I can't remember now to stem the bleeding but it makes me really teary.

One thing I found that helped me a little was to work out when I was worst and mark the date on a calendar so that if you feel "itchy" you know why and that may enable you to avoid confrontations.

It also allows partners to know when to bring chocolate home and be extra involved with DS.

As a teenager I used to have tanties from time to time - I kid you not. And all any one ever said was "Deal with it".

Great, huh? Go to the doctor and you may get a better response than I did - I suspect they took one look at my red hair and thought "Well, that's just the way she is".

lol yes I have had children. Unfortunately I am extremely irregular with my periods, one cycle can be 45 days the next 90 days, been to docs about that and the not worries as always been irregular.

I posted recently about the same thing - I sometimes terrify myself with the intenstity of my rage and distress the day before my period. Have started taking evening primrose oil and starflower oil to see if that helps. i've been taking them for 4 weeks and this month I was extremely anxious the day before but not as angry as usual. Apparently it takes a while for EPO and SFO to take effect so I'll keep on with them for a few months.

a friend hs suggested I use Jan de vries female essence , as I become banshee women and woe betide anyone in my path!.

I bought mine from here.

I havent used it yet , bt have used a similar one frm Bach remedies , which has helped.

If you got to gp , they will either suggest the pill , anti depressants , or a trip to a gyanae, were they (after a 3mth form to fill in on moods) ,will then prescribe anti depressants or the pill !!!!! Been there done that!!

If I remember correctly there's also some new evidence on early trials for increasing yuor calcium at these times ?????

I get like this too - my periods are also very irregular and it was only recently that I realised it might be PMT (previously I thought I was just depressed and it came and went with no obvious pattern). But I started to write down when my periods were and when my moods were really bad and that helps you to deal with it a bit better - even if you still feel crap at least you know why and are more prepared. Have talked about it a lot with DP too and he recognises the times I'm 'allowed' to be a cow!

Evening primrose oil has worked for me - I don't suddenly feel fine, but I no longer get the totally irrational anger/tears when I'm about to come on.

My doctors have never been very helpful about it - but it might be worth going, yours might be better than mine. Good luck, I know how horrible it can be.
